Lifestyle, mental health and academic performance of EAD students in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic had repercussions on people's daily lives, in the specific case of university students whose routines, lifestyle, mental health conditions and well-being were considerably affected. Thus, the objective was to describe the lifestyle, mental health and academic performance of students of a Postgraduate Distance Learning, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a descriptive study, carried out between June and September 2022. After consent, the participants answered a questionnaire built using Google Forms, containing objective and subjective questions regarding sociodemographic and economic aspects, lifestyle, mental health and academic performance in the context of the pandemic. The collected data were duly analyzed. Of the 62 participants, 67.74% were female, 50, 00% were 31 – 40 years old, 61.29% had an income of 3 – 5 minimum wages. Regarding lifestyle, 77.42% said they did not practice activities, 54.88% consumed alcohol, 16.13% smoked. Regarding infection by SARS-CoV-2, 56.45% had infection with the virus, 29% lost close relatives as a result of the disease. Of the total population, 30.65% sought psychiatric or psychological assistance during the pandemic. In relation to difficulties faced with academic activities, the following prevailed: coincidence of class and work schedules; activities of daily living and child care. Of the participants, 62.91% self-rated their mental health as good/excellent. The participants had a satisfactory academic performance for the course. It is concluded that despite the pandemic, students presented satisfactory mental health and academic performance. However, some aspects of the lifestyle were unsatisfactory.
